I watched Zanna Don’t on January 9, and all I have to say is “EFFIN’ HILARIOUS!” A really good musical with bright props, very catchy songs, and an enthusiastic energy all over. The plot is also very creative as it takes place in a fictional high school called Heartsville High, where being gay is the norm. And the main character, Zanna is the main focus as he devotes his life to matchmaking. What’s most fun is how the play pokes fun at the stereotypes as everything is topsy turvy (Where can we go where heteros will be accepted? San Francisco!). The entire cast was wonderful with unparalleled voices as they hook up and break up. Very Unpredictable. Also, the actor who plays Zanna (Price Troche) has an amazing voice with raw talent that combines comedy and drama. He’s a good friend of mine, and we will soon him on Broadway. Zanna Don’t is playing at The New Conservatory Theatre Center in San Francisco. And luckily they extended the play until February 1. So go see it! You’ll thank me later.
